  • 17th Century William & Mary Chest of Drawers
    Country of Origin: England
    Circa: 1680

A fine William and Mary period oak chest of drawers featuring exceptional geometric molded decoration and original period character. The chest is configured with four graduated rows of paired drawers, each adorned with applied geometric moldings and split bobbin-turned baluster appliqués to the central stiles—hallmarks of West Country and Yorkshire craftsmanship of the late 17th century.

Constructed in solid oak throughout, including paneled sides and a boarded back, the chest retains a warm, rich patina developed over centuries. The top shows desirable age-related wear, with minor shrinkage and surface undulations consistent with its age. The brass teardrop drawer pulls are later additions, likely replaced during the 19th or early 20th century. The front bun feet are sympathetic replacements.

A superb example of provincial English craftsmanship, offering both visual impact and historical charm.

    Dimensions: 36"H x 38"W x 20"D

Condition: Very good condition for its age. Later brass hardware. Expected age-related wear to the surface, old restorations to feet and drawer runners. Some old repairs to various areas of loss. Old pull holes can be detected on some of the drawer faces. There is a small compression related gap to the top.
